The site has been officially launched and will provide information on results, players, league standings and all news relating to the Alnwick Cricket Club.
Alnwick has joined a select band of cricket clubs accross the country in achieving Clubmark Accreditation. The honour recognises the hard work done by the club, the Northumberland County Cricket Board and local sponsors.
The principles behind accreditation ensure the club is in a position to continue developing and delivering high quality coaching, specifically to its young members. Alnwick Cricket Club now has a fine junior section which, together with high class coaching equipment and experienced coaches, will endeavour to provide the best possible facilities.
The Club is indebted to the following sponsors who have helped provide stae-of-the-art artificial practice wickets and nets, bowling and fielding machines and other ancilliary equipment:-
Alnwick & District Sports Council, Awards for All, North-East Co-operative Society and grants from the North-East Brewers Association and the Percy Family Trust provided through the Community Foundation.
We are to hold a Golf day on the 20th July 2007 to raise funds for our Junior ranks. The day is being kindly hosted by Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club. We have a prize of a car, kindly put forward by Blackshaws of Alnwick, for a hole in one on the par three fourth hole. Many other prizes are also up for grabs.
We are looking for hole sponsors costing ?50 per hole. For your money you will have your banner up around the tee box of a hole to advertise your business, and you will also be able to have your banner, or advertising board, up at all home games for the rest of the season.

2007 can be looked on as a disappointing season with both senior sides finishing in the lower regions of their respective leagues while along with every other club, the worst weather for many years meant that a lot of cricket was lost. However, to blame the adverse elements for our poor performances would be to bury our heads in the sand.
The first eleven won only four games, mainly due to bad batting, only on two occasions being able to score in excess of 200 and being dismissed three times for scores of under 100. Perhaps an effort to attend practice sessions would help. Allen Thompson was the leading scorer and continues to show the younger members that talent does not diminish with age. Andrew Stewart took 25 wickets at a cost of 12.68 each placing him third in the league bowling averages.
The acquisition in June of talented 19 year old Rameez Shahzad from the United Arab Emirates invigorated the Club and his performances with both bat and ball helped us win three of the seven matches he played. He scored 251 runs averaging 35.86 and he took 14 wickets at a cost of 14.57.His friendly personality alied to his playing ability and coaching skills made him a hit with all members.
After a promising start, the second eleven, a mixture of a few seniors and a majority of juniors, were unable to sustain the initial success but an excellent team spirit meant that they enjoyed themselves and hopefully will continue to do so and improve performances next year.
Our juniors continue to improve and we now have a membership of 64 registered players at Under 11,13,15 and 17 levels. Seven of which have represented Northumberland. Five members were included in the squad that represented Ashwick Bulls U 13 (a hybrid team of members from Alnwick, Ashington and South Northumberland) which won the Dubai City of Gold Junior International Tournament. Our thanks go to the Coaches, Team Managers and Parents who gave up their time voluntarily to support the juniors. A special mention is due to Lynn Roxburgh, Jayne Wright and Tilly Richardson whose administration skills ensure the smooth running of the Junior Section. Grateful thanks are due to our sponsors for their invaluable assistance throughout the year.
We have during the year supported the "Chance to Shine" project by sending our coaches into the local schools to promote cricket in the community and will continue to do so. Our thanks must go to Ian Wardle and his officers at the Northumberland Cricket Board and Steven Boyd the Community Coach for their efforts on our behalf.
The Club would also like to take this opportunity of thanking those members whose efforts behind the scenes tend to go un-noticed, the Gound Staff of Michael Brewis, Jon Young, John Frater and Allen Thompson who continue to provide facilites and maintain the ground in excellent condition. Beth Roxburgh and her helpers who have supplied teas throughout the season and are appreciated by both home and visiting teams. Ted Sisterson our Secretary/Treasurer continues to be a the hub of everything that occurs within the Club and with his small band of assistants contributes so much.
We are indebted to our match day sponsors for their invaluable financial contribution during the season.
